| Mario Bologna designed and made his first pair of sandals
with embroidery, cork and costume jewellery when he was fourteen. These sandals were
nothing less than a prototype for the future, showing his strong preference for research
into forms and above all materials. The vicinity of the sea, which washes ashore objects
with smoothly rounded forms, materials worn away by constant motion in the water, is one
of the important elements of Mario Bologna?s story, and indeed, he started his career
making beach sandals for holidaymakers visiting Romagna?s riviera. The small workshop
first opened by Mario Bologna in Riccione soon grew into a company with its own factory.
Together with his family, Mario Bologna designed and produced sandals, later branching out
into other sectors, with most of the output destined for foreign markets. Experimentation
has been a constant feature of his style, and innovation an objective to be pursued in
parallel, and the result has been a series of collections that over the years have enjoyed
great success with the public. And every collection has been inspired by a passion for
unprecedented combinations, a desire to create models that are veritable jewels, footwear
that is an accomplice of seduction and fascination. Perfectly in touch with his times and
an instinctive reader of trends, Mario Bologna has always been able to see beyond the
